Evolution

Mighty Hamster Trucks is a sole proprietorship, founded in the fall of 2007 by Lee Creech of Calgary, Alberta. Like all great innovations, this too was conceived out of necessity and a vacancy in the marketplace. Lee was born and raised in Lloydminster, Alberta on the MC Quantock Ranch. This ranch is known nation wide as being Canada’s Bull Supplier. What wasn’t always in the limelight was their use of Suzuki Samurai trucks. For the past 15 years the ranch has put the Suzuki Samurais to the test in 30 degree heat, in 40 below winters, and through the mud and the muck every spring. As these trucks have been discontinued in North America the supply of the good used ones has shrunk to virtually non-existent, with the only ones coming up for sale being worn out, over worked, and overpriced.

The hunt was on for a vehicle that could be fuel efficient, take the punishment of day to day ranch work, require low maintenance and allow us to drive to pasture miles away. Above all, we needed a vehicle that was reasonably priced and readily available. After scouring the internet, we were able to locate dealerships throughout the southern states who were selling good quality used Kei Trucks imported direct from Japan. Months after our initial interest, and dozens more searches and dead-end phone calls we were able to locate a person in Leduc, Alberta who had imported a full container load of the trucks. This being the only Canadian connection we were able to establish, Lee then drove out to meet with the man and discuss the various attributes of the trucks. After a few hours of talking and test-drives it was apparent that these were the vehicles we were in need of. They were rugged, versatile, comfortable, lightly used, and affordable. Above all, they looked like a gigantic white rodent. The Mighty Hamster idea was born. Within the next 24 hours, Lee had bought the man’s entire remaining inventory and was the exclusive and, likely only, supplier of Mighty Hamster Trucks in Western Canada. One truck immediately went home to MC Quantock and within a few hours, it had an out-of-province safety inspection completed, a license plate attached and was off to the proving ground.
